Vivian Cheng is a violinist currently based in Athens, Georgia. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she began piano studies at the age of 6 and violin studies at the age of 9, studying with Jun-Ching Lin. She has participated in numerous orchestras, including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and GMEA All State Orchestra, and has held principal positions in the UGA Symphony Orchestra. During past summers, she has been selected to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program and Meadowmount School of Music and has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Program.
Vivian has performed as a pianist, violinist, and chamber musician throughout her career, giving her debut with the Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13 as the winner of the Rising Star Piano Competition and later performing in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. She currently attends the University of Georgia and is pursuing a B.M. in Music Performance under the instruction of Dr. Michael Heald.
