A native of Charleston, SC, Shannon Fitzhenry began her violin studies at the age of two, making her solo debut when she was fourteen with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Since then, Ms. Fitzhenry has performed as a soloist with the Hilton Head Symphony, the Miami Summer Music Festival Orchestra, Charleston’s Piccolo Spoleto Orchestra, and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Leon Fleisher. Ms. Fitzhenry has received Fellowships at the Aspen Music Festival and School and has been invited for three years as a Fellow at the Tanglewood Institute. In 2018, she was invited to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra Violin Section in the Bernstein Centennial Gala Concert. Ms. Fitzhenry has held numerous Concertmaster positions, including Concertmaster of the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Andris Nelsons, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Fitzhenry is currently the Concertmaster of El Paso Symphony, as well as the Principal Second Violinist of Symphony in C. She resides in Baltimore, playing frequently as a substitute in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.
