Kelly Catlin, flute

Flutist-composer Kelly Catlin blurs the lines between genres in her performances and compositions. Her electroacoustic flute works combine soaring melodies with subtle atmospheric electronics. Ms. Catlin has a passion for melodically-driven, accessible new music with popular music influences. As the founder and composer/songwriter for the multimedia pop-orchestral fusion band Millennium (find them on social media: @millenniummovement), she brings fresh orchestral music with live motion graphics to mainstream audiences. While living in New York City, Ms. Catlin co-produced and composed the music for the original Off-Off Broadway production, Magic the Play. This production, an underscored, all-rhyming play about political corruption in a fictional kingdom, ran in the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row in February 2018 to sold-out audiences. Plans are underway to launch Magic the Play into Off-Broadway venues.

Kelly Catlin holds a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from California State University, Long Beach. She is currently pursuing her DMA in Flute Performance with a minor in Composition at the University of Georgia. During her time as an Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE) Graduate Research Assistant at UGA, she worked to foster interdisciplinary arts collaboration at the university and in the community. As a flutist, she has studied with Angela Jones-Reus, Linda Chesis, Dr. John Barcellona, Rena Urso, Darrin Thaves, and Tomiko Hamai Tsai. Her composition studies have been under the tutelage of Dr. Peter Van Zandt Lane.
