Praised by the Maryland Theatre Review as having a voice that, “rings out…smooth as silk,” soprano Bailey Jo Hutton captures audiences with her soaring lyric coloratura lines and lovely stage presence.  She has most recently been seen as Genovieffa in the Peabody Opera Department’s production of Suor Angelica. In her previous studies at Peabody she sang in Dialogues des Carmélites, Cendrillon, performed Queen of the Night and First Lady in Papageno, Johnna in Naomi in the Living Room, and Norina in a scene from Don Pasquale. In the Baltimore area, she has performed with the Handel Chorus of Baltimore, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and is a section soprano with the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Choir.

During summer seasons, she has interned with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, traveled to Italy to perform the role of 1st Spirit in Die Zauberflöte with the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival, and was a Young Artist at the Songfest Festival in Los Angeles. Bailey Jo received her Masters degree in vocal performance and pedagogy, as well as two Bachelor degrees in vocal performance and music education from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Bailey Jo is a passionate music educator, currently working as an elementary music teacher in Howard County, as well as teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the Peabody Preparatory.
