Alexis is a flutist and singer interested in using performance to connect with others.
Through improvisation, songwriting, commissioning, and collaboration, Alexis strives to create experiences that engage audience members, encouraging them to connect to themselves and with others. She enjoys writing and performing her own songs, heavily based in improvisation and looping. She is also an avid chamber musician, primarily working with percussionist and keyboardist Nick Martinez to commission and write music for their chamber pop duo, Safety Second. When she is not creating, she can be found at an art museum, looking at clouds, or watching Twin Peaks. Alexis earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Georgia under the tutelage of Angela Jones-Reus and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in music in the studio of Nicole Esposito at The University of Iowa.
